Once a beach baby, always a beach baby

If you have happy memories of beachcombing, sandy toes, windy hair, and salty skin - you're in the right place! If you have a friend or family member with a beach-themed room (even if it's you...) we have unique gifts they're going to LOVE!

  • Sea Turtle Ornament

Each sea creature ornament design is made with a custom stamp featuring the artist's original design that they then hand-carve out of scrap clay.

  • Sea Urchin Mug with Tentacle Handle

Each dot is hand-applied, similar to piping icing onto a cake, in this case with a technique called slip-trailing. The rest of the design is meticulously carved by hand. The overall result is a beautiful mug with textural interest you can feel and makes it even more fun to hold.

  • Sea Urchin Votives

Formed on the wheel then decorated by hand, these votives are an homage to the artist's shell collection. They provide the joy of the shell's form, in a sturdier vessel.

  • Sea Urchin Planter

The sea urchin decorating style which has become a signature in Beach Baby Ceramics finds a myriad of applications, including this planter.

  • Dishes and Decoration

All dishes are microwave, dishwasher, and food safe!

  • Sea Urchin Votive with lit tea light

The sea urchin votives are designed to hold a tea light candle which shines through the carved holes to create a beautiful light display when lit.

  • Jellyfish Wall Art

These specialty pieces are made in very small amounts - only one or two a year - due to the care and attention to detail required to form them.

  • Booth Display

We're not just online! Come see us in person as we pop up at craft fairs and art markets in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. Follow us on instagram (@beachbabyceramics) to see where we'll be next!

  • Each dot is hand applied...

Careful application and attention to detail are combined to create the intricate designs and pleasant textures the Beach Baby sea urchin design is known for.

About the Artist

"So why does someone in Eastern Washington State make beachy ceramics?"

(I get asked this a lot) Hi! I'm Bethany, artist and one-woman-show behind Beach Baby Ceramics. The short answer is I was born and raised on the tiny Caribbean island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. I spent the better part of my childhood beachcombing, snorkeling, and sailing around some of the most beautiful tropical waters in the world (no bias here...*cough*).

When I took my first pottery class in 2013 I found myself gravitating to forms and designs inspired by the shells and sea creatures I encountered as a kid on the beach. I continued to develop these themes throughout my pottery practice, and in 2022 when I decided to pursue pottery fulltime, I went all in and chose to operate under the name of Beach Baby Ceramics to honor my childhood, hometown, and appreciation of nature.
